2020-05-17 Online Church

Good morning! And thank you for joining our online church service on this long weekend in May. Do you know why we have a long weekend? No, it’s not so you get to go to the cottage. Queen Victoria (1819-1901) was born on May 24 and her birthday was declared a national holiday, which is why the holiday is called Victoria Day. But apparently, we kept celebrating her birthday long after she passed away and we celebrated the Kings’ birthdays on different days. In 1952, we moved it to the Monday prior to May 25 and it was proclaimed to be the official birthday in Canada of Queen Elizabeth II (whose birthday is actually April 21).

Come, Now Is the Time to Worship
Brian Doerksen
Chorus:
Come, now is the time to worship.
Come, now is the time to give your heart.
Come, just as you are to worship.
Come, just as you are before your God. Come.

One day, ev’ry tongue will confess you are God.
One day, ev’ry knee will bow.
Still the greatest treasure remains for those
Who gladly choose you now.

Willingly we choose to surrender our lives.
Willingly our knees will bow.
With all our heart, soul, mind, and strength
We gladly choose you now

He’s Got the Whole World In His Hands
Unknown
He’s got the whole world in his hands
He’s got the whole world in his hands
He’s got the whole world in his hands
He’s got the whole world in his hands

He’s got the wind and the rain in his hands
He’s got the sun and the moon in his hands
He’s got the wind and the rain in his hands
He’s got the whole world in his hands

He’s got the tiny little baby in his hands
He’s got the tiny little baby in his hands
He’s got the tiny little baby in his hands
He’s got the whole world in his hands

He’s got you and me brother in his hands
He’s got you and me sister in his hands
He’s got you and me brother in his hands
He’s got the whole world in his hands

He’s got everybody here in his hands
He’s got everybody here in his hands
He’s got everybody here in his hands

Forever
Chris Tomlin
Give thanks to the Lord our God and king,
His love endures forever;
For He is good, he is above all things,
His love endures forever;
Sing praise, sing praise.

With a mighty hand and an outstretched arm,
His love endures forever;
For the life that’s been reborn,
His love endures forever;

Sing praise, sing praise; sing praise, sing praise.
continued at top of next column

Chorus:
Forever God is faithful;
Forever God is strong;
Forever God is with us;
Forever and ever, forever.

From the rising to the setting sun,
His love endures forever;
By the grace of God we will carry on,
His love endures forever;
Sing praise, sing praise; sing praise, sing praise.

He Knows My Name
Tommy Walker
I have a maker
He formed my heart
Before even time began
My life was in his hands.

Chorus:
He knows my name
He knows my every thought
He sees each tear that falls
And he hears me when I call.

I have a father
He calls me his own
He’ll never leave me
No matter where I go.

Saviour, Like A Shepherd Lead Us
Att. Dorothy A. Thrupp
Savior, like a shepherd lead us,
Much we need thy tender care;
In thy pleasant pastures feed us,
For our use thy folds prepare.
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus!
Thou hast bought us, thine we are.
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus!
Thou hast bought us, thine we are.

We are thine, do thou befriend us,
Be the guardian of our way;
Keep thy flock, from sin defend us,
Seek us when we go astray.
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus!
Hear, O hear us when we pray.
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus!
Hear, O hear us when we pray.

Thou hast promised to receive us,
Poor and sinful tho we be;
Thou hast mercy to relieve us,
Grace to cleanse and pow’r to free.
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus!
We will early turn to thee.
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus!
We will early turn to thee.

Early let us seek thy favor,
Early let us do thy will;
Blessed Lord and only Savior,
With thy love our bosoms fill.
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus!
Thou hast loved us, love us still.
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus!
Thou hast loved us, love us still.

Read Psalm 23

A psalm of David.
The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
    He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
    he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
    for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk
    through the darkest valley,
I will fear no evil,
    for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
    they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me
    in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
    my cup overflows.
Surely your goodness and love will follow me
    all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
    forever.
