O Lord, be gracious to us; we wait for you. Be our arm every morning, our salvation in the time of trouble (Isaiah 33:2).
This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says: “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength” (Isaiah 30:15). “Be still, and know that I am God!” (Psalm 46:10). The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him (Lamentations 3:25). Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord (Psalm 27:14)! But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint (Isaiah 40:31).
But as for me, I will look to the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me (Micah 7:7). For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us (Romans 8:18). And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ (Philippians 1:6).
Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer (Romans 12:12). “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10). “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord. “Plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11). It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord (Lamentations 3:26). The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance (2 Peter 3:9).
Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you (1 Peter 5:6-7). Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the Lord (Psalm 31:24)! Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer (Romans 12:12).
